Siesta Beneath the Clouds

A honeybee flits among a grove of trees
carelessly and free         from oak to elm
the trail it leaves behind a steady stream
of white. Close by, a bear sits on stump,
its arms wide open as if to hug the next
one willing. You grab my hand, stroke
my skin and tell me that you love me as
I roll over in the grass and kiss your lips.

oo la...some nice romance....ha...i like the bear ready for a hug...a deadly one for sure but...ha...

i wonder at your choice to block style this as opposed to giving it room to breathe...

Sounds like one of those perfect days!

This is lovely, Laurie. I like the images and the romance!! Smiles.

The block form holds it all in, tight like an embrace, but you see so much outside of it. There is a tension there that I like.

Sigh. I love this - I think you made the poor old bear lonely!

so sweet…too bad we don't have siestas as part of our everyday!

Beautiful. Almost too perfect, moments to cherish and adore.

That there is sweetness. Lovely work.

love the scene, the action and the clock formatting, as if it's a discrete (discreet) memory. Bee-you-tea-full!

Love the peaceful satisfaction of this scene. Wonderful to read.

Aw. What a romantic scene. I like it all, except don't know if I want a bear that close.

Enjoyed the sweetness, the free floating feel of your poem, Laurie.

Kisses in the grass under the blue sky and clouds are the best

I don't know that, with a bear nearby, I'd be relaxed enough for a kiss :)

Beautiful and tender... the setting and the love.

Oh what a nice interlude of cloud gazing and romance ... this has such a nice relaxed feel to it, Laurie!

Lyrical and serene – with a lovely, intricate, and very skillful rhyme/near-rhyme cadence to it that builds and then slows towards the last – very special – line. I liked this piece a lot.
