  1. Oh, the screech of an owl can definitely disturb the silence of the night! And the peacefulness of one's mood.

  10. Love this that feeling that all is not as real as we see. The beautiful owl with a seemingly frightening sound. Great feeling with hidden depths.

  11. distant train
its voice talks to the moon
    a near owl

__Very well seen as written Laurie; my instant and humble senryu, as inspired by your poem, I leave here in complement to that verse!
__Often,it seems, Owls answer night sounds... beyond another Owl's call. (a near owl) _m

  12. the words "flying by with hoots and twists" juxtaposed against the “eyes of wisdom” – encapsulates the ferocity and cunning of primordial nature. “freaky, screechy owl”: perfect.

  13. This is spooky Laurie--another aspect of nighttime and the owl. I read that hardly any owl species really hoot with the who sound. Screech is probably more usual for owls.

  16. They seem to be seen in bad light. May be since they are not readily seen they are misunderstood. Truly said Laurie!

  19. Curiously I am less freaked out by an owl or other night creature than I am by the eerie absence of sound at night. Great poem Laurie.
