Icy Relief
A school carnival
Kids spread like wildfires
In the sizzling Texas sun, bacon
Bouncing off the concrete slab
Drops of sweat a salty treat
As one mom works the relay booth
Her skin pancakes on the griddle
Until another mom shows up
And chills the air for everyone

That sizzling Texas sun, I love this one@
ReplyDeleteI like what you did with this prompt, but even though the one mom showed up and chilled the sizzling sun she doesn't sound like a very welcome presence to me.
