Spooked Spirits

Key by key, letter to letter
the ghostwriter types away
spooky untold tales long buried,
while a player piano in the corner
key by key, note to note
booms low bass clef chords
incense burning, lights dimming;
spirits chase scary folk away.

  1. Having been a speechwriter for a great potionof my career, I can testify to the need of a musician to sit in a corner and chase the scary spirits away.

  9. Wonderfully done, Laurie. I love the idea of the player piano. (I've always wanted one.)
    And I can really relate to "ghostwriter"!

  15. "incense burning, lights dimming" a perfect stage scenario for the sequence of possible events unravelling in the spooky tales!!

  17. I'm imagining the 'ghost' writer as a ghost, so the typewriter going on its own, and the piano playing on its own..., lol, flickering lights...perfect take for All Hallows Eve!

  24. For some strange reason, I read this one in Tom Waits' voice.

    I have to say, it made for a very interesting experience! :D
