Snippets of the Truth

The Peabody sisters had a knack for story-telling
a charm in whispering words that crush the human spirit
scatter ashen children with shards of gore and horror
droning on about dark urges roiling from the depths of hell
virgin maidens whose lips scald all who come too near
chasing sanity with magic spells a basic instinct --
for their stories told were but snippets of the truth.

    This made me laugh (I know it is gory and shouldn't inspire laughter..sorry)as I just finished writing MY wordle and I'm thinking about the difference between your 'sisters' and mine! I will agree that these Peabody sisters ARE scary though.

    I'm glad I haven't met the Peabody sisters (though my own sister comes a close second for telling me scary stuff when I was little). Great wordling!

    Gossip can destroy people's lives the moment it leaves a persons lips, and so hateful, especially if it isn't true. Dangerous people.

    Oh I think I knew those sisters, lurking behind their living room curtains, when I was young. They reported on me to my grandma, and then I'd get a lecture. I love the "snippets of the truth".

    Laurie, scary sisters, indeed. I really like the image of the "virgin maidens whose lips scald" - that is scary; I like the juxtaposition.
