The Quiet One

I'm the one who snuck in,
the nobody in a corner
standing alone.
I'm the one who wants
to be noticed,
yet feels unworthy
of recognition
when it happens.
A has-it-all-together look
with eyes to the floor.
Resale shop gown,
mousy hair once platinum.
Don't tell me I'm beautiful,
I just want to watch
everyone else
having a ball.

  5. Come out to the Pavilion behind the Manor, Laurie and watch the ballerinas practising and performing. Also, you can take a walk by the river and have a look at the Royal Yacht and the Pirate Ship.

  8. Balls! I'm going to drag you onto the dance floor and make your head spin. Then we're heading over to the bar and you're going to have a few rose and cardamom cocktails. You won't even remember what a great time you had... 8-)

  10. I know I have felt like this some times in my life. Probably many of us have.

  11. Oh shucks, I've been in this spot too, and it's horrible. So, no way am I letting you be all alone. What's your favorite wine? Surely, my other friends will join us over here too! It's a ball, we have to have some fun, right?! Oh yeah, and it's a special birthday party for Tess as well!
