Revenge
by Laurie Kolp
midnight looms on soiled ground
as fog descends from high
a blackbird swoops
through split pea soup
when full moon fills the sky
seeking revenge
from long ago
on those bigots
who drug him to his grave
before his time
and
left
him
there
to die
the blackbird
now a monster
storms forth
winding his way
through the headstones
edging closer to his prey
closer
closer
until
~SNAP~
everything is dark again
tomato soup starts to thicken
the soiree now begins

Laurie,
Nicely done to the prompt.

Oh, Laurie, this is truly chilling!
Eerie stuff. I'm glad I've never experienced tomato soup fog!
Rhyming is such a great way to invoke terror. Well done, and a belated welcome to the Tent!
I sense a morbid justice in this revenge -- never sweet.
There's definitely a chill in this! Apart from the warming tomato soup that is! :0)
