First of all, I love the picture. And I really like the visual of the 'ghosts of winter's coming gray dancing in periphery.' Yes, we have to face the fact....they are coming near.

nice...i like that one splash of color in the picture....the stand out against the grey...and that is what autumn is---a flash before the grey...i wish it was longer, as i love it...smiles.

Winter's coming grey - i love this picture and the rich colours of autumn. An emotion of passion and grace.

... the ghosts of winter's coming gray dancing in periphery ... They do lurk don't they? This is beautiful and plays well with your chosen photo! Just perfect, Laurie !

I like the pic. Reading the words felt like being right in the middle of autumn. The way it happens in the colder climates. I loved that feel. Now where I live, autumn is more like a beautiful Spring. Love it too.

I like this very much Laurie. You packed a lot of meaning into a few words--and I always admire that. That first mention of the ghosts of winters coming gray really grabbed me.

You speak such lovely words of happy visions for this fast approaching autumn and then that which follows!

Wow, a strong poem & a terrific visual with it appearing on the abstract image; like a wall poster for sure; don't know how you can keep up with 2 blog sites, FB, Twitter, & so on; a poetic workhorse you be. Nice to bump into you at Poetry Jam this week. This piece is one line longer than a Tanka; is it a specific form, or just your own form?

You have shown the two facets of autumn very evocatively within a few words Laurie! And this is found in the beautiful photo too.

Love the "orange foliage" and yes, presages winter. Thanks Laurie!
