Oh, the screech of an owl can definitely disturb the silence of the night! And the peacefulness of one's mood.

Freaky, screechy..love that line..a bubbling darkness under the wings..it's the head and eyes that make me shudder..a bit poltergeisty!

Their screeching can be pretty freaky. Love this, it was a fun read.

Given the right setting, am owl's screech can indeed feel freaky. It used to scare me as a child.

I love the "freaky, screechy". I feel a bit like that old owl right now, only quieter!

Love this that feeling that all is not as real as we see. The beautiful owl with a seemingly frightening sound. Great feeling with hidden depths.

distant train
its voice talks to the moon
a near owl

__Very well seen as written Laurie; my instant and humble senryu, as inspired by your poem, I leave here in complement to that verse!
__Often,it seems, Owls answer night sounds... beyond another Owl's call. (a near owl) _m

the words "flying by with hoots and twists" juxtaposed against the “eyes of wisdom” – encapsulates the ferocity and cunning of primordial nature. “freaky, screechy owl”: perfect.

This is spooky Laurie--another aspect of nighttime and the owl. I read that hardly any owl species really hoot with the who sound. Screech is probably more usual for owls.

I love this not only because it's fun, but for the rhythm. You could dance to this, Laurie.

They seem to be seen in bad light. May be since they are not readily seen they are misunderstood. Truly said Laurie!

Curiously I am less freaked out by an owl or other night creature than I am by the eerie absence of sound at night. Great poem Laurie.
