Life

Plank by rickety plank
Hope treads ahead,
a tightrope walker

feet steady
keenly aware
one slight misstep

might break her,
yet with faith enough
to try.

I sometimes feel like that tight rope walker praying to avoid a Humpty-Dumpty fate...great lines Laurie :)

"Hope treads ahead.....keenly aware...yet with faith enough to try." That says it all, Laurie. Engraved on our hearts.

We all experience these tight rope moments but they are surely 'easier' when hope treads ahead.

"yet with faith enough to try" is the punch line for strong spirit. Keep it up!

Plank by rickety plank - excellent opening line. it just opens up the poem and makes your words sing. Well done.

The confidence is always there. It does not work otherwise! Nicely Laurie!

Indeed a person has to have enough faith to keep walking one step at a time, whether on a tight rope or on the path called 'life.'

Laurie, love the "hope treads" both walking and treads to walk upon :-) Very clever. This was a great prompt!

Insightful and beautifully sketched “take” on hope. We can't live without it - though, sometimes it seems, it's hard to live with it. Smiles.

Like the swinging bridges in my childhood: don't look down! keep moving!

Great poem and thoughts about life...one must move forward when faced with challenges...waiting makes the fear increase...moving forward is open to so many possibilities.

Lovely way to put down in words what life is about - it's sometimes hard to try, but still we have to. Wonderful!
