The Thirteenth Dimension

Somewhere between the here and now
A timeless realm beseeches thou
Allures the faint of heart within
A wall knocked down as limbo skin

With timeless eyes and furrowed brow
A feral wolfhound on the prowl
Grabs hold of hands spellbound, allows
Imagination to check in
Unwrap almighty muse built in
Somewhere between

Yin and Yang, balance allowed
To scour the depths of mindful Tao
Except when number thirteen spins
A twist on universal kin
That wakens from the here and now
Somewhere between

Wow, Laurie. Just WOW! You achieved excellence with that rondeau form (I've decided I have to play with that form more)plus incorporated the 'daydream.' I especially liked the last stanza - the yin and the yang!

I loved the rhythm and flow of your words, you pulled me in with the first verse and kept me captive till the end. Wonderful!

Very eerie! As if belief or custom opens to a hellish pagan realm when 13 comes around--so better to hold on, to protect yourself? Or go where the muse is running with the "feral wolfhound"? Despite some negative diction, your tone here entices me, dares me to fall in between!

What a fantastic write! A terrific rondeau, sheer perfection, great topic AND you worked in thirteen too. What an impressive write. Admired every word.

Oh, this is so very good!!! You wrote a rondeau of deep ideas and creative images in spite of the somewhat sing-song rhythm of this form, making it so much more than rhythm and rhyme! I am impressed.

Love the thoughtful pondering and images of the feral wolfhound...these two lines really stand out to me:

"Yin and Yang, balance allowed
To scour the depths of mindful Tao"

Awesome job on this Rondeau, Laurie!!

I like this very much, Laurie.

This is an amazing line: "A wall knocked down as limbo skin"

And this: "A feral wolfhound on the prowl"

Enjoyed it. :)

The problem with being a late commenter... Everyone else's already said all the things you want to say! Fantastic use of form! Great use of words! Amazing idea! Got under my skin immediately! Love it!

This is very clever. I've been trying to write a poem on the tenth dimension, so appreciate what you have done with this.
