Stormy Nights Forgotten

moods
so heavy they hurt
they cloud reality
blow the time away
a tornado from the blue
sprawled out on the dirty floor
she fuels her moods with songs
melancholy, broken, dark
songs of lost loves, cheating liars
over and over again
she sits
she listens
she rocks
moods
the violent storms flood
blinding rain, tears of pain
an emotional balloon is she
until the hurricane hits
turns thunder
spurns rage
bursts
pops
eyes, those eyes
gray
clouds
they know
dusk turns to dark turns to dawn
sunshine peaks through, cheer
offers hope after the rain
the pain last night forgotten
she wonders why her head hurts
so heavy
these moods

I love this poem's connection between emotions and nature's power. Such vivid descriptions -- I could sense the unease of the approaching storm. Very nice!

I agree, the power comes from the correspondence between nature's landscapes and our own.

Thunderstorms of real life can certainly be as devastating as those in nature. They can be lived through but they take their toll.

glad the thunderstorm of the mond has passed...and have had little harder headaches than those from emo...

I related to the inner turmoil. Oh, how I have been there. I loved you beginning, especially.

The thunderstorms within and without...both can bring so much destruction.

So emotional and powerful. I could very much relate to it.

Speaking as quite the moody girl, I was so taken with this poem. Your repetitive use of "these moods" really worked, Laurie.

Mine rarely get back to the sunshine when I write them, so this is good inspiration. Thank you so much. Amy

the correlation between weather and emotion here is very strong of course, but it was really impacting!
