it doesn't have to be. a sad life.
one in which pride and ego cage
you like a bird. feeds you seeds
of denial. you think you can hide
from the truth. in that cage where
you rage. because down deep.
underneath those tawdry
feathers of fake fluff.
you know the truth.
and only when
you let it go
will you
be free.
soaring on eagle's wings. happy in life.

They do say the truth will set you free.
A great reminder, Laurie. Thanks!
Wonderful reminders... thank you.
Yes, to be free is not a free ride. There are sacrifices.
Good advice, beautifully said.
It takes such courage, though; and we don't all have it.
It really is so true.
Only by facing the truth and accepting it do we truly free ourselves.
Your prose is so eloqently put and, so true.
