One might think it strange:
a wayward, rampant boy
whose rough conditions early on...
...one might think would cause
a frenzy of foster parents
falling left and right,
a stack of cards misdealt;
but a good old faithful friend
learned to attack
his checkered moods
with wholehearted love
and sublime attitudes...
...one might think a calming channel
that coaxes robust energy
to settle down, enjoy life
as it is now, not how it was...
...yes, one might think
the ball is finally in his court
and, thanks to his dog, they’re correct.

Every boy needs a dog! I love how you used the words of the Sunday Whirl for this picture challenge - the blending of both prompts is flawless.

Dogs can work miracles sometimes. My dog and I like this story with a happy ending.

there are lots of homeless kids passing through our town, and almost each has a puppy, we have wondered if it is the "love" they are seeking? A boy's best friend.

I always post my Whirl before The Mag gets posted. I love how you combined the two Laurie and the whirl words blend in so seamlessly to suit both prompts. Loved this, but, having a little pooch whom I love to bits, I am a little biased, methinks... LOL I loved that due to the dog, the boy was saved. :)

Every child should have a pet to learn from and lean on. It's a very special relationship.
I reckon that everyone needs something or someone that they care about more than themselves. A beautifully written piece.
This reminds me of someone I know and have cared about for years. One of the lost, she stays because of the dogs who have been keeping care of her for years.

Powerful emotion , Laurie, i think your right, when a human is swamped by the machine emotion programs installed in them by other humans and themselves, turning back to nature offers them a way out, like a guide dog ! , thanks .

I enjoyed the repetitions of "one might think" and all the usual negative sterotypes. Not maudlin, not overly sentimental, just reality. Interesting use of the wordle. Well done.

What a great blending of the two prompts ... I forgot entirely that the wordle words were in there somewhere ... and such an uplifting story from a place that could have been quite dark and tragic ...
