Traffic Jams

I thought it all nonsense,
this ethereal scene
unfolding before my eyes:
a holiday bottleneck
wrapped in stiff burlap,
those behind the wheel
acting like turgid miscreants
with dementia, demarcation
a necessary counterattack.

Must we go back
to kindergarten,
review boundaries?
Or direct traffic to
the nearest park,
offer free meditation guides
with effervescent appeal,
discuss change of perspective
from hustle/bustle to Zen?

Perhaps sometimes we need to look back at times to move forward !!!

It is a strange world we are becoming, but we can make it go back on track, and your post, sure brings that point home. The ball is in our court!

what will it take to get back on track...a good question for us to answer...i think we have def lost some of the basics we learned in kindergarten..a little zen meditation would not hurt either...great use of language in this laurie...

ohno, that sounds like a call back to real life. I refuse to think about it until the new year :)

Hmmmm......somehow my comment got lost. I love the idea of someone directing all the frothing impatient drivers over to a Zen session. Could someone please direct Congress there as well, so they can work for the good of the people rather than their own political party? I am clinging with my fingernails to the cliff as it is.

Bravo! You incorporated all those words so well! I, too, love the idea of waylaying furious commuters and shoppers into a Zen meditation session!

Such fun Laurie to weave them altogether ~ Save me from traffic jams specially during the holidays ~

:-)!
Our for a bit today, I noticed more cars on our Tucson roads than on any day in the past week. I smiled a lot. They smiled back. Of course, some were cussing and flipping me off... but I smiled!

I needed a zen-session tonight after my commute. One particularly pesky driver tailgated me so close I couldn't see his headlights; I was scared to brake at all. But some tea and a couple calming poems later, and stress has left the building. Sorry for the rant--I loved your poem :)

Excellent, comprehensive use of all the 'Wordle' words.

Ah, the question posed in your second stanza should be top of everyone's agenda notes.

I think you have the right answer to holiday road rage - what's the rush anyway, when there are beautiful parks to enjoy?

Ohhh, yesss, Laurie. All we'd need would be signs, "Zen Against Road Rage" and we can each lead marches in our own parts of the planet.
Who knows? We might win.

Oh yes, Laurie, take us back to where we learned all we need to know except perhaps zen. Nicely done!
Sorry you felt the need to put the proof of humanness back on your web site!
