Cloud Coverage

"Clouds" by L. Kolp

The sky above abuzz
with deceased relatives
gathering to show respect

while he laments
the release of his father.

Emitting words explosive,
storm clouds rain down
tears as if lost years

don't matter.
He stands beneath a canopy

of limbs, beneath expression
adequate for his mother, yet
inside a parasite festers

like violent thunder
hovering.

And it all comes together, a heritage that hovers, one that crowds the ears and clarifies the spirit. Powerful.

Powerful writing, Laurie and what a perfect accompanying photo. I love the idea of the sky "abuzz with deceased relatives". Love "tears as if lost years dont matter." I like how the weather matches the emotions he carries within.

Beautiful and sad words. The photo is excellent as well. It makes me think of the quiet vigils I hold for my father.
My post was silly.

An ominous gathering of clouds almost left hovering over us ready to burst as we come to the end of this thunderous poem

Love hurts and no more so when death makes a visit. So beautifully written and illustrated Laurie.

When I read this, it seemed to me like there could be a good story here. This poem could be placed at the beginning of a novel to set the stage for the reader.

Laurie,

Your poem reminded me of sad times when standing in an Irish graveyard, after a funeral service. Rain beating down without any mercy, to the point where the proceedings seemed to be hurried along...Dark clouds for a dark occasion..
