The sycophant crept into your life
a slithering snake
unrelenting.
Cleopatra’s mesmerizing spell
evil
this adulterated charm coiled
around your weakest link--
emotion.
Squeezing, depleting
putrid poison spread like the plague
false ideas, seduction and lies;
brainwashing, abusing
naked naiveté.
Why
did you take the bait
as your loving family
watched from the bushes and cried?
