Summer Rainy Days

The kids hip-hop through the house
laugh together, yell and scream
in playful gestures, crack impromptu
jokes straight from their heads
battle axe and swing swords shielded,

bickers flying every now and then
through the sticky prickly heat
retreat into another room to pout
then out they come for another
round of Let’s Drive Mom Insane.

Isn't that the truth! I swear my kids used to do things just to get me going!

Oh BOY! Do I hear you! That's when we inhale slowly through our noses whispering It's all good, it's all good! they tell me I'm gonna miss this! :)
We could use a cool-down shower here in Ontario.I'm trying NOT to inhale through my nose right now because Some farmer sprayed manure while I was gone berry-picking. The house smells atrocious!!!

I completely relate to this poem! If I have to hear, "Mom, I'm bored" one more time...thank goodness there are only 62 days left (yep, I've been counting!) Very nicely written, Laurie!

How funny! These rainy summer days produce a sort of hidden energy. Thank gosh for day camps and swim lessons. :)

Well, you need to gird up loins before launching forth to drive poor mum insane! Neat poem, thoroughly enjoyable.
