Burlap wrapped,
burlapped-
your regifted gift
slapped me
to my senses,
and course defenses
like downed fences
drifted away.

An interesting word challenge, Laurie, and a good illustration of texture in poetry.

Love this, Laurie! How did you add the words to the image?
Good prompt, Laurie, and I enjoyed the accompanying article on texture. Thanks.

I love this, Laurie. Love the look of burlap.
Rough and ready! So visual and I feel this in a myriad of ways.
Always hard to receive a regifted gift when you KNOW that is what it is. (Smiles)
This is beautiful ... loved it !!!
nice...i like the pic and the red goes well with the burlap....the worst is being regifted the gift you gave....haha..ugh...not fun at all...smiles. i like though that yours ends in fences coming down...nice flow to your short...
How clever of you to re-gift us!! I have made lampshades and table runners with burlap ... love working with it!!!
Some unique word orders and the double meaning of course...coarse...interesting. Thought provoking. I found I went to a similar topic. This was a gret challenge, thank you, Laurie!
A unique prompt, Lauie, and an excellent response in your own poem. I like it as part of the illustration too. I am still thinking on my response.
I like the play of burlapped and regifted ~ ouch, on getting the regifted gift ~
Happy Friday ~
I wonder if you didn't mean "coarse" defenses.
Nope, I meant course... glad I got you thinking though... that was my intention = )
I like it. Great play on words and excellent write, as usual!
Regifted gifts can be acceptable for keeping the relationship.Nicely Laurie!

Loved the wordplay and how you placed it on the burlap image.
Very clever. You have to be very careful that you don't regift the gift back to the original "gifter"...can be very tricky, eh?
This is really cool. I like that it looks like it's written in blood. :) I think something creepy is going on here.
i am new to poetry and am enjoying the epxloration.
ooh this one, hmmmm! a re-gifted gift downs fences? this is making me think. terrific.
Very cool poem, Laurie. Love the way you wrote it on the burlap itself (or the image, that is!)
Ouch, this snapped me to, lol.
I too, love your play on words ;D
