Life is fragile~
wear it like a loose garment.
Before you brag, imagine
living in fear, your freedom
an old pair of underwear with holes,
ripped and thrown away. Imagine
living biddably, your transparent bra
dangling from a telephone wire,
only you have no way to call.
Before you brag about worldly
possessions, imagine living
in fear, where icy stares
are daggers in your heart
as you stand in a line-up,
naked and you have to
remain polite or else.
Life is fragile~
wear it like a loose garment.

We take such a lot for granted...
Great words with a powerful and true message.
A poem of power, anger boardering sorrow. I stand frozen between, feeling.
love your open and closing couplet...its what is in the middle though that really brings it for me....living in fear, hard place to be...exposed as well....
Great words we shouldn't take life for granted.
Wonderful! Freedom is taken for granted by many.
This was wonderful - yes, one of my mottos is: keep yourself humble (or God will do it for you).
Yes life is very fragile...beautifully but unflinchingly written..Jae
You are so absolutely right! What a vision you brought to life with these words. It reminds me of a quote I put on FB, about affection which follows this same road of taking things for granted. "No home is complete without affection. You can have all the Picassos in the world, or walls made of gold, but without affection it's nothing." Claudio Luti
"Life is fragile~
wear it like a loose garment." Ohh I loved this poem a lot !!!
One of your best, Laurie. Direct, succinct, detailed. Very well done.
Life is very fragile and we shouldnt take anything for granted. So easily it could be gone. Great reminder.
Lovey write.

Valid and eloquent. Well done.
In your words I see the Jews of World War II, stripped naked before Hitler's minions...
Powerful!
Silk and Sky
This poem definitely puts a lot of things in perspective...
Dead good!
I love the shape of this and that word 'biddably'. Wonderful dreamy images throughout.

Chillingly brilliant.
Beautifully written and thought provoking. (Makes me feel really guilty about my lightweight effort for this prompt!)
