Don't touch him,
don't expect him to
open up.
The arms
he once wrapped
around himself
were ripped off
by his wife
and all that's left
are burrs.

Ha, ha. The burrs I do like. It does make the picture, doesn't it?

Cock-le-burr ~~ couldn't resist!
I look like that after a walk in a field in the autumn, although I do wear a bit more than a bed-sheet!
I like what you did with the prompt. This is a cool poem.
And Helen's comment made me laugh!
That was great fun.
really well done, I think Dali would have liked this
Oh, does this ever make me shiver, Laurie. Sad & well expressed.
Yes indeed! Good one Laurie-
(I thought perhaps they were burrs as well!) thanks-
I like the direction that you went in!
I loved your take on this !!!

Ouch - great poem
Well done and it made me laugh!
Don't mess with Mother Nature, lol
I love the economy here, each stanza lined up as the bureau drawers, burrs in the way of knobs.
Wives can do a real hatchet job when they're ready! Love it especially the burrs!
Very descriptive of some divorced men!
Oh dear! That IS a new twist ...or on second thoughts, thinking of Eva's comment, maybe an old one given new expression?
what kind of man would marry a wife who would rip off his arms?
Such violence. Took this in a surprising direction. I want to know more. I want to know why. :)
A different twist takes some thinking. And somehow there is always humor involved. Nicely Laurie!
Hank
The she is a he and the tables turned. An enigma is Venus de Milo always and everywhere and nicely remolded in your hands
That's what I call savage wit! Excellent Laurie!
Ooooh, such an unexpected direction you took with this one.....you hit it right out of the park. The arms ripped off........the burrs........the travails of love. So well done, Laurie.

OMG- yes on so many levels I can see this! Nicely done!
Whoa! That must be quite the relationship!
Always pay attention to your muse..never wrong..Like a splash of cold water!!
Self love gone tragically wrong - very Shakespearian !
Great poem here, I'm sure glad you followed your muse. I just might start following your muse as well...
Oh this was a clever take...burrs indeed...
Well done...a different paradigm on this one, and I liked it.
Especially the burrs.
