Your serenade a lullaby
When at night, time multiplies
And as I watch you hop away
I'm grateful for your flitty ways
Of iffy, creepy tainted views
No longer just a greenish hue
So on this day of love, my dear
I won't complain if you're not here

very clever, much more subtle than my offering.
Great one! I have these horribly ugly camel crickets in my basement-ugh!
Oh. These are the ones I loathe! Scariest. Good take on the prompt!
Hee Hee, dismissal can be O so sweet.
I miss the sound of crickets, etc. we heard in balmy Florida .. I know, contrary me.
This is a great love poem-NOT. I wouldn't mind the noise if they just weren't so creepy.
This was cleverly done !!!
This was wonderful, Laurie. Yes, those with flitty ways can best be 'loved' from a far distance! I enjoyed this.
A great no so loving poem for Valentine's Day. Those flitty ways are annoying.
smiles...i am rather fond of their music actually...listen to them on nights we keep the windows open...
I LOVE this! "I wont complain if you're not here"....so clever.
Funny how many folks don't like crickets, how they get skeeved out by them. Maybe it's the "ass-end" viewpoint of the picture?! As for me, I love them, love them... crickets and fireflies, both fond memories of childhood in the country. But then, we didn't have cicadas...! Love, Amy

Haha! I really enjoyed this, Laurie. The tongue-in-cheek pseudo romantic style was very effectively handled.
I also love the red cardinal banner - so impacting for a poetry blog.
Definitely clever. It almost seems like you like the cricket, but really, you just like it better when it's gone.
we don't have these monsters!...love the preciseness of that poem!! thankyou
Love it! lol
You are so clever~
I too love your banner and enjoyed your poem :D
Oh wonderful Laurie. I definitely prefer crickets not be around me--though the baby ones seem to be coming out in force recently here.
Oops, I didn't understand Mary's prompt before commenting. NOW I understand the comments above. Sheesh, it works great with the Valentine aspect, Laurie! (I still like them, and you may like my subject as much as I hate it!!) Love, Amy

I am reminded of Frank Herbert's Green Brain suddenly, Laurie.
Funny - yet definitely got us thinking.
Wonderful. Touching and humerous.
