SCROOGE
by Laurie Kolp
Scrooge is what they called him,
Cranky weirdo beneath the light,
Resentment fueled his anger
Obsessive thoughts on Christmas night
Ominous signs, impending danger-- until
Grouchy miser gives in to whim
Entertaining Santa’s flight

Laurie, I was drawn to your poem Scrooge, first, because that is my husband's nickname, and second, because I had no idea what the word acrostic meant.
I find it to be an ideal way to express your thoughts and I love the way you have dealt with Mr. Scrooge!
The love of my life, sometimes I see those exact qualities in him ~ and yet, at Christmas time, when little children are around, there is something of a Santa even in him!
I think you are very talented. Thank you for sharing that talent here and at Writing Our Way Home.
