The young girl breaks
from the working line
looks into my camera
with a thoughtful stare
a bit perplexed
... or so she seems.
I ask her what's wrong
read her red heart lips
exaggerating each syllable,
"These ducks aren't lucky!"
and we roll over in laughter
to mask the sadness we feel.

Great words. Enjoyed that.
What a great piece!
This picture is a stumper! You framed it into a good poem!
Good take. Tess can come up with some amazing stuff, can't she?
Imagination is precious. Thanks for yours.
Great response to the image Laurie -- and no, they most certainly are not...

Great take on the photo!
You took this in an unexpected (to me) direction. Way to go, Laurie.

No joy in Duckville.
Dear Laurie, Tasty - and luck is very important to ducks!
And as a fellow Tree-Hugger (maybe?)
Thanks for commenting on my Sunday Tree last week. I’ve posted a new ‘Tree’ and would like to invite you to write something in response to it – or to one of the earlier tress. The post can be found here:

Yes, not all ducks are "lucky". LOL (I'm a wimp... I buy my chicken already cut up and de-boned.)
love this,
you truly captured the photo image well,
added your creative wit and humor.

I laughed too. Are you sure the hanging ducks aren't going to judge? :D
