Spooked Spirits

Key by key, letter to letter
the ghostwriter types away
spooky untold tales long buried,
while a player piano in the corner
key by key, note to note
booms low bass clef chords
incense burning, lights dimming;
spirits chase scary folk away.

Having been a speechwriter for a great potionof my career, I can testify to the need of a musician to sit in a corner and chase the scary spirits away.

How can I get one of those spirited ghostwriters over to MY house? NaNoWriMo begins tomorrow! Yikes!

Clever idea.

Nice, and very appropriate for this coming Halloween.

Oh, I like this so much. Goes great with the prompt of an empty chair and typewriter, and love the play on 'ghost writer'!

Wonderfully done, Laurie. I love the idea of the player piano. (I've always wanted one.)
And I can really relate to "ghostwriter"!

Suppose she suddenly spots that the typewriter is playing the tune and the player-piano is . . . Ooerrr!

Ghost writers, indeed! :)

"incense burning, lights dimming" a perfect stage scenario for the sequence of possible events unravelling in the spooky tales!!

Spooky! I love the smell of incense - I wonder if it would inspire my writing?

I'm imagining the 'ghost' writer as a ghost, so the typewriter going on its own, and the piano playing on its own..., lol, flickering lights...perfect take for All Hallows Eve!

Love it!! I would need a ghost writer if I had to go back to using a typewriter... :)

For some strange reason, I read this one in Tom Waits' voice.

I have to say, it made for a very interesting experience! :D
