Soak in God's sun, believe in the power of prayer,
pay tribute to each new day, find out why you're here.
A mantra that I live by now; it's not all about me.
I don't run the show, a path of pain made me see
if I live right, seek God's will daily,
I need not feel penitent or worry constantly.
Instead, a life of faith~ God will work things out.
As long as I soak in his love, I'll never live in doubt.

It takes some time to realize 'it's not all about me' ... happy to have arrived at that place!
PS, I left a response to your typo!!
That was funny.
There is such relief when one comes to flowing with the river, and gives up all that exhausting paddling against the current! I love your mantra!
What a good mantra..and more..a belief and trust deep inside..it is a hard shift..moving the universe from your shoulders..
Love this! So full of inspiration, something to read every morning.
VERY TRUE WHEN EVERYTHING FAILS, GOD PICKS US UP.
A great mantra to live by! Still looking for my answer!
Yes indeed, God will work things out somehow. He always does. Nice mantra.

What a testament of faith, Laurie. Really well done. I like your near rhymes and the cadence you create. Your ability to address several prompts with this one is impressive. Kudos.
soak in his love, I'll never live in doubt. - Superb, life is all about enjoying the grace of God given freely by his love. Great words and so true. He is always with us, an everlasting waterfall of grace. Loved this.
What a beautiful mantra
Very nice mantra, reminds me of don't worry be happy- or hakuna matata!
Love the idea of soaking in love--a beautiful poem, Laurie :-)
Wondrous and beautiful!
I want that kind of love ;D
Beautiful, wise, and sweet!
Love the faith you've displayed in your poem. And I agree, having a lot of pain in one's life cause open your eyes to a lot of truths that would have gone unseen otherwise.
Beautiful mantra to carry you through thick and thin!Rumi's Beloved
Isn't it odd/lovely how turning it over breeds confidence? You've written about this before in longer forms which I enjoyed. I like this little gem especially.
I really like that thought, "it's not all about me." If it were, what a poor sad place this world would be,
Elizabeth

very true! pray to God and the strength to row for shore dawns!
An truly inspiring piece...very nice:)
No problem with the advice, just need the backbone to carry it out.
Nice poem about conviction. I didn't realize it rhymed until I was half-way in..which I think is a good thing. Thanks.
Someone has been telling me this for years. Thank you for the reminder.
This is very inspiring and real. It's hard for a lot of people, or perhaps myself, to let go of trying to control everything and turning it over to a Higher Power. I love how you tell of painful roads making you see life different. Beautiful!
A lovely mantra Laurie ~ I am learning to soak in His love and not worry much about everything `
Happy Friday ~
This is very true ... perhaps we should all instill this faith in our hearts !!!
In my life as a practicing member of the United Church of Christ, I have a hard time letting go, letting God. God already knows I am a control freak! I say the Serenity Prayer aloud every morning and am working more diligently at taking a deep, mindful breath at times.
Laurie, you answered the prompt in splendid fashion. For those who believe in God, I think it's a perfect recipe for a happy life! Peace, Amy
My comment did not show up so maybe I posted incorrectly. Anyway I like your poem--a life affirming philosophy.
