Scientific Coping
A thin layer of pollen yellowed
the window to his hungry soul
searching ever onerous,
incantation blue then whole.
Hypocrisy, false alibis-
he said, you said, I said, me;
sweet honey intoxicant
bearing freedom, ecstasy.
Soaring, flying, gliding
airy breeze, smoky dream;
hallucinatory alien
sated wisdom, milky cream.
The boy whose name is Aumen
copes with choices he has made,
alone, but never lonely
haunting demon’s esplanade.

I'm hoping wonderful things happen for him...I'm the eternal optimist!
A complicated story full of beauty.
Lovely rhythm, it sings of the boy and his dreams...
Simple beautiful with all the images
I, too, know a little boy named Aumen, also part of a parental struggle, triangle, split, though his parents are happily together and he is a happy little boy, and so I did a double take, and then could identify more closely with your poem. Yes, while we think coping is an art, there is a science to it. :)
Lovely piece! Thanks
The piece is a wonder, it lingers. Beautiful!
This to me is what poetry is all about: a captivating subject held together with a flawless word flow, lovely rhyme, and stretching the vocabulary to find the exact word to achieve perfect rhythm. Fantastic.
The mystery in this, building on the last, is palpable. I can't wait to read more. The imagery is dreamy throughout. The second stanza is intriguing!
Thanks all.
Brenda- That is ironic b/c the name Aumen just came to me... from where I do not know. I had no idea it was even a real name.
