"Listening looks easy, but it's not simple. Every head is a world."
— Cuban Proverb
cymbals echo in my ringing ears
a cacophony, a cry for clarity
!crash! permanent hearing loss
!ping! it might be a tumor, a tumor, a tumor
colliding my world suddenly
all thoughts and words go back to that
!crash! permanent hearing loss
!ping! it might be a tumor, a tumor, a tumor
November’s debut symphony
instead of music from my muse
my ears are killing me

A sobering thought...
Prayers continue...
I am deaf in one ear due to a virus. Hope you don't lose your hearing, if the poem is about you.
Laurie,
God forbid. An affliction where we are most vulnerable now in the golden years. Hoping nothing untoward happens!

I suddenly lost the hearing in one ear. All they could tell me was that there were three possible causes: blood clot, virus... the other three were cancers. That was 16 years ago and I still don't know. My guess is blood clot. The loss also left me with tinnitus - about which I have posted in the past. It's copable with. Hope your resolves itself satisfactorily.
What a great poem!
One has to be careful in concert halls and theaters. My advice is that if one feels any discomfort, no matter how much one paid for the ticket or wants to see the entire show or movie, leave immediately. Hearing is delicate and not worth risking damage to.
Laurie, hope they get to the bottom of the situation soon and that it turns out to be nothing serious!
