Baby raccoon |
The baby coon scoots across a pebbled path
the tremble of its body but a blur
and small enough to fit into my hand.
With dampened eyes
I keep my distance,
hope the mother finds it
before a hungry gator snaps.

Both pictures were taken by my husband
outside his office (which is by the river).
The baby raccoon on Monday and the baby alligator a few months ago.
Prompt inspiration: 3WW- dampen, keep, tremble

I hope those two don't meet each other later and the coon rescued by its mother. We don't see that many where I live.
That is so cool!
Great poem borne of nature in the most unusual of circumstances. Nicely done, Laurie; and lucky you! Living in a place where such wonders are accessible.
Excellent! Hope they found their moms and the gator didn't snap and have a delight. Great photos of each one.
Blessings
Aw great pictures and words.
very clever Laurie. too bad those cute things grow up.
This was a touching way to connect two unrelated incidents.
Belting stuff! we don't get wildlife like that in Manchester!!
Look at those little cuties!
Far out! This is so cool! The pics are dynamite! Great job Laurie!
So cool, Laurie. My favorite ... "the tremble of its body but a blur" ... great sounds (t, b, l) that dramatize long moments of stillness then blurred motion. I think you should try writing a poem where the two meet and speak to each other!
How pleasant an office by the river must make! Clever of you to take creatures who have made an appearance at different times and create a shared circumstance. Hopefully, your husband is able to capture a photo of the coon another time.
I'm new to TWW and I'm happy to come across such lovely blogs. :)
