a ruddy imprint on the bricked underpass
one tobacco-tainted sofa, sans cushions
deemed passe haute couture for some
while others spring on the posh decor
one mans trash is another mans treasure...i am sure there are many on that street that would love a nice place to sit...someone already stole the cushions..

nice like it and until your poem didn't notice it didn't have cushions ...thanks for sharing x
Once again. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, eh? :)
yep- I noticed the red cushions were missing-good take!
Why didn't I notice the non-cushions? Nice one.
...they must be college students! :)
right. the cushions are probably the soft walls of a child's fortress...somewhere
Exquisitely expressive, Laurie. xxxj
elegant.
it reads like one sentence magpie, smiles.
Excellent!
Nice capture of moment! And nicely setting up one of those open to intepretation metaphors. Really love the style and the use of words!
You summed it all up rather well. A second life emerged for the once elegant love seat. Well done.
The cushion might still be retained after restoration. It is simpler to do and occupies less space!

every line a story - lovely Laurie
So much is a few words. Good Magpie.
There's a French feel to the fabric of this poem.
Love this. Sharp and incisive.
I am glad you mentioned scent...
If it is/were, at a bus stop- it would be posh!
Love this Laurie! :-)
Wonderful Magpie! Do you think it ever had cushions?

Cool Magpie. I wonder if the pennies down the back and sides have been stolen also?

There is no haute couture like passe' haute couture. :-)
"Haute couture" to dumpster diva.
Wonderful.
Oh, that's a tight write. Good one!
Thank you for your kind comments!
Posh decor! A delightful short!
Never realized there were no cushions. Fun take--thank you.
The french is a lovely echo of the sofa itself. I really enjoyed your take on this one.
All in the eye of the beholder! I really like this...
expressed beautifully
