My husband, Pete, 20+ years ago in the Marines (before we knew each other) |
He once wrote a poem for me
about the wind and the waves
how the ocean breeze felt upon his face
breathing in the salty air
as water lapped upon his feet
in rhythmic solitude
a moonlit night, a starry sky
sitting on the wooden pier
two hearts as one;
nothing could compare, he wrote
and sent it with a card
the poem I keep beside our bed
my husband, my hero
still today.

Laurie, breath-taking! I need to go get a kleenex~
Aw! You have an unfair advantage on the rest of us, with this super romantic man in uniform of yours...
Lovely words to share.
Wonderful poem and he sounds like a good guy to me - hey, every serviceman has my undying respect! Glad he got you.

How nice, Laurie! And how touching. A hero once and forever!

How lovely. I am hearing about so many long-term happy loving marriages lately, that I am having to adjust my disillusionment, hee hee. You make me a believer, once more, in romance. Love this poem, and the story behind it.
Wow. Beautiful. What a lovely tribute to your husband and to a happy marriage. (Loved the photograph, too. Handsome guy.)
"the poem I keep beside our bed"

Laurie, so sweet a story thank you
for sharing a part of your life
in this tender poem.
To have the written reminder of a love that still stands...beautiful
Everyone needs a hero. What a nice tribute, Laurie. Thanks for being part of FBF, and sorry to be so long getting over here.
I thought this was a pic from a Hollywood film.
Very cool LK!
there's something so special about a man writing a love poem to/for/about you....
it sounds like he's a keeper!
