Inside Me

Inside me lives
A rumple of emotions
A lover
Wife, mother, sister, daughter
Passionate and caring
Sometimes too much

Inside me lives
Secrets that I’ve kept
For too long
Truth blooming like tulips
A forever battle
Between faith and fear

Inside me lives
A survivor
With a tainted past
An unknown future
Living in today
With dependence on God

Maybe it is the mix and unbalance that makes us 'us'..sometimes it's not perfect but it can always be good..Jae

It is the struggles we fight and overcome which make us into the person we become. You have grown through all of your trials and become a fine person Laurie.
This is a lovely piece.

This is spot on with Cora Coralina's honest approach to self-portraits, and explores the seen and unseen facets of womanhood.

To place "Lover" first makes the reader think a bit but then realise that life is nothing without love of life, husband, children and God. Great poem.

Beautiful poem all around, but the last stanza trumps all!

beautiful, Laurie... I like the honest fell of this, the openness, what I think of as a 'take me as I am' poem

An affirmative poem of strength and survival. My favourite line - "truth blooming like tulips". Brilliant! I particularly love your poem and that line, Laurie, because most people might associate keeping the truth within - as ugly when it comes from a negative experience. I interpret your poem as rising above that and letting the truth blossom into what that person is or can be.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift of writing. And thank you for your lovely comments on my blog.
