The tree, a vessel-
a way to escape
through the forest
of life, and you
rode it with fervor
like a valiant knight
on horseback, whipping
through the blurry leaves
as branches scratched
your face, but you
never looked back.

Poignant, with powerful closing line. Great write, Laurie.
nice...trees were our fortresses growing up...we pretty much lived in the forest out back before it was culled by the commercial endeavors....the never looking back is a bit sad...
Short and sharp. Lots happening within (and beyond) the brief space.
fantastic. scratches and all, and not looking back. Great write!
This be perfect. Just *know* that I love it.
Love the philosophy AND the ending! You are really writing up a storm today, Laurie.
Can't decide if "never looked back" denotes bravery or sadness ... either way ... marvelous write. Thank you for sharing your gift of words for us to enjoy! :)
Oh, this speaks to me of experiencing life and not looking back at the mistakes, the grievances... just continuing to live, enjoy, pursue what life has ahead...
