Why is it we find ourselves
victims of tumultuous times
where peace is privileged,
laced with turgid truths
as thick as throbbing tongue?
An amaroidal aftertaste
these nauseating lies
promises forsaken
spit like cherry pits
leaving a path that treads
on troubled tactics.
When will this relay end?

Wow, Laurie! There are several amazing words here: tumultuous being a fave of mine for the way it rolls off the tongue. Amaroidal aftertaste.. Yeesh.
Excellent commentary, too, on present times.
ha some wonderful word pairings laurie...i love all your double beginning letters it is a nice contrast of fun to the questions you are asking which are a bit more serious...smiles....have a lovely friday
Laurie this is so well done, love the layers and depth.
A sign of the times ... you expressed what we are experiencing ~ and pulled it off in a poem! Wonderful.
There is nothing worse to me, than an habitual liar. It gets so that you never know if what they tell you is true anymore, or not.
Nicely said Laurie.
Turgid is so, so filled with words. What fun.
Love these, Laurie!!
"laced with turgid truths

Thanks for the interesting prompting today, Laurie. I hope you're feeling better and that you have a nice weekend.
ugh, ain't that the truth. well, well done.
So many great lines. I especially love the path that "treads on troubled tactics". Politics. It was ever thus.
Many very strong images in this--excellent words! Very serious and sad question.
Oh, Oh! I'm going to have to haul out my Webster's Collegiate for this one!
A familiar path. I feel the need to go out and sweep my sidewalk.
