A Path of Cherry Pits

Why is it we find ourselves
victims of tumultuous times

where peace is privileged,
laced with turgid truths
as thick as throbbing tongue?

An amaroidal aftertaste
these nauseating lies
promises forsaken

spit like cherry pits
leaving a path that treads
on troubled tactics.

When will this relay end?

Wow, Laurie! There are several amazing words here: tumultuous being a fave of mine for the way it rolls off the tongue. Amaroidal aftertaste.. Yeesh.

Excellent commentary, too, on present times.

A sign of the times ... you expressed what we are experiencing ~ and pulled it off in a poem! Wonderful.

There is nothing worse to me, than an habitual liar. It gets so that you never know if what they tell you is true anymore, or not.
Nicely said Laurie.

So many great lines. I especially love the path that "treads on troubled tactics". Politics. It was ever thus.
