Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. ~ Muhammad Ali
Float like a butterfly…
Intricate patterns
a stained-glass window
bright and bold colors
yellows, blues, purples
reds, oranges and blacks
truly nature’s collage.
Each wing a mirror image
symmetry no man can match
immaculately reproduced
exactly perfect each time,
fluttering by with class
light, airy and dainty
a gentle breeze that stirs the air
each fragrant blossom floats
barely noticed, blatantly beautiful
the miraculous butterfly.

…sting like a bee
She lives her Stepford-wife life
putting on quite the facade
to make herself look better
than all the rest. She reels
in those five-inch heels like
she’s the queen of the world,
the best. Chilling eyes ski down
a deep steep nose as if you
were a wee little bee. To tell
you the truth, that’s what I’d
like to be-- a bee buzzing around
her fake cake face, fancy hair
scaring her half to death
stinging her just right there!

both very nice
WOW! Very nice and powerful.
The first was as beautiful and colorful as a butterfly. The second...really love that one. I wish I was a bee too.
Thanks... sometimes I want to be a bee, but most of the time I'd rather be a butterfly.
From beautiful to funny... LOL, love it!
what fun word play.
love it.
;)
The butterfly is amazing and ethereal ~~ and the bee is quite "sharp!" bzzzz!!
Two good contrasting pieces. I liek it when that happens from a prompt.
I love 'Stepford-wife life'. Great fun to say aloud.
Laure, the butterfly description is poetically beautiful. I really like it. The bee is the wish that lives within us; to give a snob the comeuppance they so richly deserve.
By far my favourite is the butterfly poem. So graceful, as if the words are caught up on gentle breeze. Very pretty poem.
