Time doesn’t sit by the back
door like a hungry dog, it
can’t be retrieved from the
marshes or chased up a tree
rather time runs as fast as
a greyhound, packs a trail
of conditioned modalities
until you let go, break free.

Your use of extended metaphor is really superb. Such an unusual comparison you chose here, yet it works so well.
A really fresh, unique way of looking at how time runs us, until we break free... Love the ending.
Time waits for no man (or woman for that matter!).
Nicely done, love how you put it together! Breaking free of time does certainly make it different! Reminds me of my husband's Cree family teaching us about time.
But I don't think time ever lets go of our leash...
Wonderful Won't Wait poem! I really like the dog images. I was having trouble thinking of anything that won't wait, but time is certainly something that doesn't wait! Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting too.
this is something new - dog comparisons. i honestly admit i never would have thought of it this way - but it works very nicely!
Great imagery in this poem!
Wow, I love the fresh take and the cool images in this poem. Time at the back door like a hungry dog....way cool!
You're so right, time never sits and waits, and we can't control it...so well said, Lauri, from a fresh and different point of view. Who said everything worth saying has already been said? Obviously not true.

yes, time runs fast indeed ~
lovely share ~
Yes, Laurie, time waits for no one....keeps marching on, and we must find a way to utilze it to our advantage, knowint it is so limited.
Breaking the bondage of time is a very Zen thing, I've heard.
Love that ending!
unique write... grand metaphors make this a great & tight read enjoyed it a lot!

value of time is well described :)
Love it. Love the metaphors. So creative and unique. As someone who wrestles with time all the time, I really needed this:)
Thanks Laurie, for your lovely comments on my blog.
