a whirl, a twirl, a spin, a grin
a whisper in the dark
when your child shimmies in
a dance, a glance, a tap, a snap
a leap of thumping heart
when the beating music raps
a plunge, a lunge, a WOW, a bow
a banana split treat
indulging parents proud
a throw, an OH, a pause, applause
a gracious genuflection
when the final curtain falls

Totally brilliant!
Oh this is excellent, Laurie. You have complete mastery of the sounds and the pace of this piece.
Laurie, this poem so delightful reads like a dance! Brought back memories of concerts when children were little.
You've captured that feeling...I've been there before...and you did it with darn fine rhythm and language.
Could there be anything more fun than watching your daughter and granddaughter perform onstage ~ don't think so.
Your Mag capture all of it - beautifully.
love this happy poem, admire how you married joy to each line.
Sounds like YOU really enjoyed the performance! Bravo to your daughter for her dancing.
I love this so much! Perfect meter and rhyme where form enhances meaning! Lovely!
This was a fun read. I enjoyed it so much. I think it has depth beyond the initial fun - the final curtain fall on the circus of life.
You have captured the spontaneity children bring to performance in this poem Laurie. It is so bubbly and fun. Thank you for sharing. This poem reminded me that my three year old granddaughter has a ballet recital the beginning of June. Delightful!!=D
I like the sounds of this poem Laurie ~ Looks like a successful dance recital ~ Happy Sunday ~
Been there, done that, I think! LOL
This is wonderful, Laurie!

Oh this brings back memories...very nice take...
Such a fun poem. I assumed it was about a real dance recital, so it was a genuine treat to find out at the end that it came from a visual prompt. (Of course it could be both.) Congrats!
A real pleasure, Laurie.
Love this one.
It FEELS like the circus.
=)
In case you weren't sure - you're one of my favorite writers in the world. So much fun to read you! Love, Mosk
