Why Just One Day?
by Laurie Kolp

‘Twas the day before Valentine’s
and all through the mall,
hurried shoppers scrambled
for love tokens to call
on sweethearts and honeys
friends, kids, teachers, too
one might think it Christmas,
this material zoo!
The flowers were ordered
(if not it’s too late)
plans made and confirmed
for that Valentine’s date;
all such a big deal
to say that you care,
which should happen daily
true endearment to share.
