A Scab on the Heart

Eyes that pierce one wounded heart
appear a million times,
graph paper filled with emerald ice
tatooed within my mind.

Might a dose of Cardizem*
white out the painful stab
of your condescending leer
which on my heart has left a scab?

@laurie kolp

*Cardizem- heart medicine for angina (crushing pressure in the chest caused by inadequate blood flow to the heart)

Prompt inspiration: 3WW- appear, dose, pierce

like the lyrical quality of the first verse and the twist at
the end.

Sometimes words can cripple us, but the menacing look can also do that kind of damage like your poem says.

There is sometimes much truth in the age old expression: "If looks could kill..."

Your prose said it so well.

You can feel the pain in this piece.

A misguided leer can dampen the friendly heart. Beautiful piece

Beautifully written, almost Shakespearian in its flow and use of words(apart from the Cardizem that is!)

Quite a barbed poem! Nicely done.

If a painful poem can be nice, this was nice. Excellent work!
