Jackson Pollock Ocean Greyness, 1953 Oil on canvas |
Unfolding, in front of her eyes
a web of deceit,
a maelstrom of lies.
Over and over, spun
without regret,
the harm undone.
Until the vortex ended-
storm over, damage done,
nothing left to spend.
Forgiveness grim,
she chose to move forward-
without him.

WOW! What a GREAT interpretation of the painting.....works perfectly - the maelstrom, the deceit......"damage done, nothing left to spend"......and then the moving forward. Awesome writing! To me it looked like a plate of oysters and I hate oysters. I like your version better:)
Laurie, indeed sometimes it is difficult to forgive things which were done again and again without remorse. One eventually has to choose one's path and move on without......
Laurie,
I like what you saw by looking into that painting. Very obvious, once you had written it down!!!
Eileen
Outstanding! I love your take on the painting.
Good stuff, forgiveness is sometimes possible where forgetting is not.
Great interpretation on the painting! And I completely relate to that moment when moving on becomes necessary, with or without forgiveness. Very nice!
Thank you... I saw eyes with first look, but now I do see oysters, too.
and maybe that is what it takes...a clean break and a fresh opportunity in life.....
I like that moving forward, even without forgiveness ~ Nice take on the prompts ~
This is my favorite line: "Until the vortex ended" ... and the maelstrom of lies.
Well Done! I saw the eyes in this one, too~
I love what you did with the prompt!
I could feel the pain in your words~
Sometimes parting is sweet, with little sorrow!
An analysis of something almost beyond analysis!
I too saw eyes when I first looked at it. "a maelstrom of lies" works well in this and the end of unforgiving is pure life.
Two prompts with one poem, good job Laurie. :)
If all he did was cheat and lie, I'm glad she moved on without him.
Powerful, poetic write Laurie.
Yes, sometimes you just have to move on ... perhaps forgiveness comes later through the act of setting yourself free ...
I like this. Forgiveness does not mean that everything returns to "normal"! It is a belly softening (cf Levine)--but not necessarily a staying in the zone. Once we soften our bellies via forgiveness, walking away is even easier.
sometimes we just have to walk away, yes... & you chose the perfect painting to accompany your words
Wonderful interpretation for the prompt and I like the painting you put with it--they go very well together. And yes, moving on is a good thing in such cases.
"Unfolding, in front of her eyes
a web of deceit,
a maelstrom of lies."
Oh, this is one of the worst things to witness...You've captured so well the array of emotions involved with this sort of madness. Well done, Laurie!! :)
a powerful piece so well written! and after all that, moving forward on her own seems a wise choice! it goes so well with the painting, Laurie! wonderful!
♥
The vortex is no fun ride! So many ask for another ride, though. Moving on is a much better option.
Once you wrote it, I could see it too! Great interpretation!
It's a dark, moody picture, eh? I did the same one. Your take is very good.
