Taking Flight

Just as a cardinal splashes red
flying on a rainy day,
you didn't go unnoticed
when you flounced away.

I like it, Laurie. You can't ignore a cardinal ..... OR a person flouncing away!

True. You want to be noticed? Get a red umbrella!

Beautiful, like the cardinal.

Yes, one who carries a red umbrella (or flounces, for that matter-- what a fantastic word!) must want to get noticed.

Well tamped poetics, Laurie.
Red cardinals have always been
on of my favorite birds, but I'm
a sucker for red convertibles
too. Never did get a red umbrella,
but have several red ball caps,
and I have perfected a wicked
flounce.

"Flounce" is a lovely word in a neat little poem
(Cad . . I've told you before - your hat is orange not red.)

I love the bit about the cardinal...perhaps a double meaning?
