Orange tape reflects
a line-up on County Lane;
yesterday's letters, hard to choose.
One stands with flap open
unwilling to wander away
from tangible SENTiments
like a parent waving arms,
"Come back to me,"
as the child walks down the road.
Prompt inspiration- Imaginary Gardens mini-Sunday challenge (tercet)
How creative, Laurie! Brings back memories of French language classes, verb tense & all!
Your well placed analogy was a powerful addition to your description, and reminded us of the human element which is missing from the scene.
I liked the image you created in the last stanza - I could just see myself being that parent!
Quite unique imagery.
This one is really beautiful ... I loved the memories associated with it :-)
That last stanza was specially piercing for me ~ Nice one Laurie ~
smiles....nice...like the SENTiments and the parent waving there in the end is a powerful visual to end on....
aw, yesterday's letters, tomorrow's goodbyes.
Love the "come back to me" - a parents' refrain.
I really like this:
"Yet one stands with flap open
unwilling to wander away"
And the image of the child walking down the road at the end. :)
What would life be without letters?
Oh, this aching emptiness...Laurie, you always bring a chill with your words...emotively striking...I've missed you as well my friend!
Definitely a different take! I like it.
Oh how this conjures up some nostalgic feelings. Many of them revolving around waiting by the mailbox for the bus to come.....great writing Laurie...loved it.
