Silent Death

At midnight the masquerade began
Revelers gathered in disquise
Unaware they were of deception
Hidden beneath shallow eyes

Until the time for pantomime
Death revealed her precious plan
Pandemonium broke out like acne
As chocolate waltzed with Chopin

I never thought I'd ever see chocolate and Chopin in the same line! Thankfully, I like both!

there is a noir whimsy, a foreboding mirth about this piece that I find engaging...

This has got to be the most surprising ending to date.

Intense and challenging. Would you consider changing "of" to "all" in line 3.
All good wishes.
