Yes! I have always called it "my mother bear instinct" even though I've never had children of my own.
All children arouse "Mama bear" in all women, even a child in a photo of a painting.

Ohmigosh....you painted the perfect word picture to accompany the image. If I couldn't see the image and had to rely only on your description, I would still have gotten the complete effect. That's artistry too! Vb
