They're all around me, snakes
hissing, squeezing, coiling
'round barked limbs outstretched
while I beg for your protection
against pretentious snobbery;
steadfast, these vines they wind
baited like a worm once again,
I spit back at them with bile
frozen in time, holding strong
until the constrictors retract
slither atop putrid dirt
slyly seek their next victim
it won't be me.

Good one Laurie - great final line - I think we can all agree with this for sure!
Recognising the snakes is sometimes not so easy. Great take on the Mag.

Hm, I get the feeling that you don't like snakes. I liked this ... edgy.
The real snakes aren't always in the grass.
Ooh, a very intense write.
What a power-packed closing line,I loved it :)
