A school carnival
Kids spread like wildfires
In the sizzling Texas sun, bacon
Bouncing off the concrete slab
Drops of sweat a salty treat
As one mom works the relay booth
Her skin pancakes on the griddle
Until another mom shows up
And chills the air for everyone

That sizzling Texas sun, I love this one@
I like what you did with this prompt, but even though the one mom showed up and chilled the sizzling sun she doesn't sound like a very welcome presence to me.
Thanks... and you are right, Mary.
Love the line "her skin pancakes on the griddle." Great imagery!
nicely done Laurie.....thanks for sharing your words
Love this, Laurie. I think we all know a mom like that, unfortunately!

I love the idea of kids spreading like wildfires. A happy poem. Thank you.
Oh, man, I know that other mom, the buzzkill who chills the air...! Good work, Laurie! Amy
