Driftwood

Moevs, Marina River

Pick-up sticks on the river bank
reveal chaos amidst a reflective odyssey
left behind, the jumbled wreckage remains
untouched the course in life has changed
as the past fades into a distant mirage
allowing room for a peaceful future.

aros, Day 2

A two-week holiday, the kids rise early with anticipation;
back to school on Monday, the kids want to hibernate.

This reads like a swiftly flowing river, Laurie... it reads like life.

Ever so gently and naturally
you cajole and steer us past
the eddy of a new year, the
cusp of the past being shed
like snake skin, and point
our focus into the brilliant
light of the path ahead;
good read, Laurie.

I adore the beginning! And I agree, if we let the past fade (the unpleasant stuff), the future will be much happier.

nice...pick up sticks is the perfect descriptor for this....and life does move on...as a kid we found several old places abandoned we would explore...

I echo Brian's comment ... pick up sticks is so appropriate!
