“X” Always Wins
by Laurie Kolp
“You be the X,
I’ll be the O
in a quick game
of tic-tac-toe,
let’s draw the grid
right here where you sit,
when the doctor comes in
we’ll quickly quit.”
“Can we really write
on this paper, Mommy?
Will we get in trouble
when this mess they see?”
“Don’t worry sweetie,
no need for dissent,
new paper is rolled
for each patient.”
“You can go first,
put your O right here,
my X’s are smarter,
so you better beware!”
The mom just smiled
and let her son win,
before they knew it,
the doctor was in.
